바이올린을 전공하는 사랑스런 로맨티스트 ‘사만다’와
자신의 일에만 몰두하는 성공한 젊은 비즈니스 맨 ‘이안’.
둘은 서로를 사랑하지만,

사만다의 졸업연주회가 있던 날.. 저녁식사를 하던 두 사람은

'The Notebook' Synopsis

The Notebook is an epic love story centered around an older man
who reads aloud to an older, invalid woman whom he regularly visits.
From a faded notebook, the old man's words bring to life the story
about a couple who is separated by World War II, and is then
passionately reunited, seven years later, after they have taken
different paths. Though her memory has faded, his words give her
the chance to relive her turbulent youth and the unforgettable love
they shared.

As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling)
begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy.
The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents
who insist that Noah isn't right for her.

Story

 

Old Allie lives in a nursing house feeling spiritless everyday. She has a good company Old Noah, who visits her everyday to read her a love story.  The story starts from when young country boy Noah meets young urban girl Allie in a festival held in Noah’s town. Noah falls in love with Allie at first sight and struggles for her heart. After their first date, Allie feels incredibly attracted to him. 

 

One night Noah brings Allie to an old gigantic mansion and promises her to remodel the place as her dream house. on the other hand, Allie’s parent are desperately worried because Allie has not returned home yet. When Aliie arrives at home with Noah, she quarrels with her parent who are not happy about their daughter’s summer romance with a poor country boy. Noah feels humiliated and breaks up with Allie knowing that she is leaving the town soon.

 

Next day when she wakes up she feels her world is completely changed. Her parent have decided to leave earlier than their plan and Allie runs to look for Noah however, she could not find him and leaves the town without farewell.

 

Noah has been writing letters for 365 days to her but as there are no answer, he decides to leave the town with his friend Fin. During that period, America declares war with Germany and Noah and Fin enlists in the army. Allie volunteers to aid damaged soldiers as a nurse and there she meets her new lover Ron.

 

Allie falls in love with Ron who is a successful charming guy and she agrees to his marriage proposal. When Noah returns home his father has bought the mansion for him. Noah accidentally sees Allie together with her new lover. Heartbroken Noah begins to remodel the mansion as her wish hoping that she returns back to him.

 

Most unexpectedly, she sees Noah’s picture in front of the dream mansion on the newspaper. She makes her mind to visit Noah before her marriage. She figures out that her mother has been hiding letters from Noah. They spend the happiest moment together and this agitates Allie’s heart. After her mother’s story, Allie becomes to feel more confident about her feeling. Finally she returns to Noah.

 

When he finishes reading the story, Allie, who was suffeing from dementia, recovers her memory and dances with him but only for a short while. Sad Noah gets heart attack. After his recovery, he comes back to her and lies besides her bed. They never wake up again holding hands together.
